Where's the Connection?
Online casino players and industry analysts are looking for a connection between
Warren Cloud’s death last week and the closure of several of Cloud’s major
gambling brands that used the Real Time Gaming platform. Cloud had a colorful
past in the internet gambling industry, including a short stint in the South
African gambling industry, but in the past several years played it straight and
developed a slew of prominent online casinos, poker sites, and internet betting
venues. On announcement of his death, there was no information released from the
internet gambling companies concerning the gambling brands but several of the
RTG licensed online gambling sites have since abruptly closed their doors.
RTG is a top-ten online casino international software development company that
offers an innovative platform of games specifically tailored to run gambling,
betting, and poker sites. RTG is very respected, and interestingly enough, RTG
gained in popularity after landing the major accounts with Cloud. Cloud’s online
casinos and other sites were among the companies most lucrative licensees. As
the gambling sites close down there is no indication at this point whether this
is due to business from RTG or from those running the gambling brands theme
themselves.
Communication has been very spotty after Cloud’s death and the online casino
gamblers who have account balances with some of Cloud’s sites are fearful that
they will not have access to their monies. Several of the most popular RTG sites
are unavailable and the message on the site provides few clues. Site visitors
are met with a brief message: “This site is no longer available. Please check
this space often for more information and updates.” This small bit of
information is hardly enough to assuage the concerns of online gamblers – they
are just looking for some sort of information from either RTG or management at
the gambling sites. |
