U.S. Online Casino Gamblers are Clueless: 2
The US Trade Representatives negotiated an unknown settlement of trade
compensations for the European Union because of the internet gambling debate,
and Antigua could very well legally infringe on U.S. movie and music copyrights,
yet most of the American public remains clueless about the entire situation.
The problem comes right down to apathy and laziness – only the U.S. online
casino and poker gamblers who have been truly affected by the restrictions of
the UIGEA have taken notice of the invasive legislation. Other gamblers continue
to search the Web for a gambling site, they easily find one of the handful of
sites accepting U.S. monies, and their problem is solved. No thought seems to go
into the fact that some there are some sites that are restricted and major
foreign online casinos won’t even begin to allow U.S. players for fear of
prosecution from the U.S. government.
It would not be fair to blast all Americans though – the Poker Players Alliance
is a million members strong. This group of concerned land and online casino
poker players are taking affirmative and strong steps toward legalizing U.S.
internet gambling activities with offshore gambling companies.
Supporting the cause is pretty easy – just watch the industry and let your state
representative know your opinion on the current state of online casino gambling
in the U.S. It is just unacceptable that so many U.S. gamblers continue to enjoy
internet and poker gambling without any knowledge about the current political
climate surrounding this heated topic. The current U.S. gambling policy is
protectionist and discriminatory and only through the support of Americans can
we affect positive change. |
