Support Message for Change
Poker and online casino gamblers from across the United States are uniting for
Barack Obama’s message of change. The Bush administration has certainly not
scored any points with internet gambling enthusiasts in the U.S. with the
passage of the highly controversial Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA),
and Bush’s restrictive legislation and harsh tactics toward gambling at offshore
online casinos could very well lose McCain a number of votes – and some even
from Republicans. The basic situation comes down to the fact that more than a
million Americans are looking for the next U.S. president to legalize and
regulate internet gambling, and a Republican in office does not bode well for
any sort of positive change.
Neither the Obama nor the McCain campaign have stated an official position on
the ongoing online casino and poker gambling debate, but that hasn’t stopped the
Poker Players Alliance and major poker professionals from publically endorsing
the Obama campaign. Poker players from across the U.S. are looking to Obama to
deliver on his promises of new and positive changes in the U.S. government. The
Bush administration has made several hugely controversial decisions during his
seven and a half years as president, and as his reign winds down many Americans
are looking for an abrupt change from the policies and tactics of the past eight
years.
Some of the major land and online casino poker professionals officially
endorsing Obama include Doyle Brunson and Andy Bloch. Bloch recently commented
to The Sunday Telegraph not only his support but the fact that many of his
contemporaries and the poker community as a whole are backing Barack Obama. |
