Catania is Leading the Investigation
Online casino gamblers are not yet ready to concede their argument over the two
cheating scandals that occurred at affiliated gambling sites. A year ago the
news broke about the Absolute Poker cheating scandal – and just as the
investigation was finding resolution last winter, the news broke that Absolute’s
sister site, Ultimate Bet, was also involved in a very serious cheating scandal
that affected many of the site’s online casino poker players. The Kahnawake
Gaming Commission licenses both of these online gambling sites and has
investigated and resolved both cases – the only problem is they are tight-lipped
about the outcome of the Ultimate Bet scandal and internet gamblers are
demanding more information – that is where Frank Catania comes into play.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission announced just this week that Frank Catania will
lead an independent investigation into the cheating scandals to ensure that all
procedures were accurately handled and that the online casinos in question are
no longer a threat to internet poker players. This is exactly the type of
investigation that is needed to assuage concerns over the multi-million dollar
cheating scandals that occurred at the two online casinos – but some in the
industry are questioning the Commission’s decision to appoint Catania to lead
the investigation.
Catania is the former Gaming Regulator for the State of New Jersey and has
extensive experience working within the land gambling industry. Additionally,
though, and this is what is raising concerns with online casino gamblers,
Catania was instrumental in developing the Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s
regulations and procedures when the Commission was first launched and began to
license sites. Many internet gamblers question his objectivity and instead are
asserting that a true outsider with no affiliations to the Commission should
head up the team. |
