An Even Bigger Event
The controversy over the final table event at last year’s World Championship of
Online Poker (WCOOP) has not even begun to dull the excitement surrounding this
year’s event. PokerStars.com is the largest online casino poker gambling site in
the world and hosts this annual event. As the fervor for the 2008 WCOOP ramps up
it seems that PokerStars is working a little harder to give everyone something
to look forward to – the prize pool has double over last year’s. Online casino
poker players are now competing in the event for a chance at even just a small
portion of that huge prize pool.
Last year’s controversy involved one of the two winning gamblers facing
disqualification for breach of contract and for breaking the contest rules.
While that situation has yet to find full resolution, online casino gamblers can
rest assured that PokerStars is one of the best companies in the industry and is
working hard to make this year’s event better than ever.
The WCOOP is comprised of 33 different style of poker events, and it all
culminates with the final table of the Main Event, which often features some of
the hottest names in the land and online casino poker gambling industries. And
because the entire event takes place through the internet, players enter from
all over the world to compete for a share of the prize pool. Many land and
online poker gamblers anticipate the internet tournaments even more than huge
events like the annual Las Vegas World Series of Poker because the event does
not involve travel and internet poker players from all over the world have a
shot at making it to the final table.
A former winner of the WSOP Main Event, Joe Hachem, commented on why some casino
poker players might prefer the WCOOP, “Prestigious tournaments such as the
PokerStars.com World Championship of Online Poker are the ultimate way to
improve your game and experience the excitement of big tournament play.”
The WCOOP starts on September 5, 2008 and runs until there is just one player
standing- or a least a split agreement if the final two players agree. |
