Antiguan Online Casinos Search for Advertisment
The Antiguan government has spent several years in negotiations and lawsuits
with the United States about questionably discriminatory online casinos
legislation. And though those problems have been preliminarily resolved through
the World Trade Organisation, the country still has a ways to go to even
remotely recoup the losses brought about when the U.S. withdrew from the
international online casinos industry. That’s why Antigua is looking toward the
UK market to provide new opportunities in the international internet gambling
industry. With new regulations and the UK Gambling Commission overseeing the UK
gambling industry, Antigua is finding the new market hard to break into.
New regulations in the UK passed several years ago and came into effect in
September – at this point the UK gave the online casinos more both permission
and responsibility. The UK white-list was developed by the Gambling Commission
as a way to further restrict the internet gaming companies that were able to
advertise gambling in the UK market. Countries had to get approval from the UK
before they were a part of the white-list. Of concern to many online casinos
gambling jurisdictions was the fact that if not approved for the white-list,
many companies licensed in that jurisdiction would move and gain licensing in a
jurisdiction that is approved for the UK white-list.
This is a large part of why the Antiguan government met with UK officials – the
Antiguan Prime Minister is certain that Antigua’s online casinos regulations and
licensing process is stringent enough to meet the UK’s white-list standards.
Antigua’s online gambling industry has suffered massively from the U.S.
withdrawal, so the ability to advertise in the UK would go a long ways toward
repairing the Antiguan gaming industry. |
