Not Far to Go
The Antiguan government announced that it doesn’t have far to go before the UK
will approve the ability for online casinos licensed in Antigua to advertise in
the UK following the strict guidelines set out in the UK Gambling Commission’s
regulations on that part of the gambling industry. Dr. Errol Cort, the Minister
of Finance for Antigua met with several British representatives about the white
labeling issue, and to express a desire that the British government quickly
resolve Antigua’s previous omission from the UK White list.
Minister Cort was confident that the two countries had come to an understanding
that would lead to Antigua’s white listing and subsequent ability to advertise
in the UK online casinos industry. Minister Cort met with Gerry Sutcliffe, the
British Minister for Sport and walked out of the meeting confident that an end
was in site. “This meeting shows what governments can accomplish by working
cooperatively and openly to resolve issues between them,” comments Cort, “we
appreciate Minister Sutcliffe’s interest in this matter and look forward to
concluding this matter shortly.
That is the truth of the situation for sure, there is no reason that the
Antiguan online casinos gambling industry should be kept from flourishing
considering the island’s once very prominent place in the industry. White
listing opportunities would renew the island’s economy and bring online casinos
back into the nation’s licensing jurisdiction.
Minister Cort continued noting that a quick resolution is likely, “I was happy
to learn that very little stands in the way of our approval for whitelisting,
and I think I can express confidence that this issue will be resolved favourably
in the very near future.” That way the online gambling industry on the island
can get back on track. |
