Dangerous Gambling Climate
If you live in Costa Rica, the online casinos gambling poker industry is one job
that you might just want to pass on – especially in light of the several serious
attacks on executives and others involved in the internet gambling industry.
Though the attacks are not specifically targeted at the online casinos industry,
the Gambling 911 information site has reported another internet gambling
executive was attacked and ambushed – he is still in the hospital facing some
serious injuries.
These several criminal attacks over the past year point to an increasingly
dangerous climate in Costa Rica at the moment. The assailants in the latest
attack on an online casinos gambling executive were carrying guns and sought to
overtake the victim’s SUV. Despite the fact that Costa Rica is known for its
unstable atmosphere right now, internet gambling companies continue to base
operations out of the country because of more lax regulations, tax incentives,
and for some, its proximity to the United States.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released because his family has not yet
been notified, but he is currently still recovering in the hospital. And though
his identity is unknown, many in the online casinos gambling industry are
already pointing to the Bodog attack for similarities. The CEO at Bodog was in a
similar situation where his SUV was held-up, and his body guard was shot in the
shoulder in the altercations. Despite the attack though, Bodog still operates
out of Costa Rica and specifically serves the U.S. market.
