Will Nations Accept U.S. Offer?
With that U.S. and the European Union finally coming to terms in the ongoing
negotiations, some speculate if the agreements will last, or if the online
casinos companies and EU countries will even accept the terms of the
compensation. The internet gambling companies are still speculating about the
long-term feasibility of the deal considering that the trade compensations in no
way bring money into the online casinos industry. Instead, the negotiation deal
that was announced allowed for trade sanctions in completely separate industries
– something that concerns the online gambling companies.
Most in the industry are really hoping that the announced compensation claims
will pan out as enough to satisfy the EU countries involved as well as Canada
and Japan. But then, the U.S. had to issue a clarification the day after the
negotiated compensation was announced that has many in the online casinos
industry and beyond wondering if the deal will actually last.
The whole issue is going through the World Trade Organisation, and the U.S. has
spent months negotiating and postponing negotiation deadlines. And considering
the months worth of patience that the various nations and online casinos have
had, most were anticipating a better deal. And even before the U.S. pointed out
the fine print associated with the negotiated compensation deal, online casinos
companies within the Remote Gaming Association had expressed displeasure at the
compromise.
The announced deal was accepted by some of the nations involved, but all have
yet to agree to the trade compensation agreements – and it is doubtful that they
would under the current compensation agreement. The online casinos are seeking a
way for the trade compensations to bring money into their pockets, not just
their individual governments.
