Social Benefits of Internet Gambling
Many nations have recently faced the tough decision to either regulate and
license the online casinos gambling industry, to ban the industry, or allow
instead allow internet gambling to exist is the in-between state. Bulgaria is
one of the latest countries to face the though decision to regulate online
casinos gambling and deal with the increase in problem gambling, or to instead
go the route of some other countries that have a total ban on the pastime. The
Bulgarian government has had the online gambling issue on the table for months
now and have announced that the country will in fact license and regulate
internet gambling and add new provisions to the state lottery system.
The Bulgarian government is comprised of three governing coalitions, and after a
two-day closed debate, the three governments agreed to regulate online casinos
and expand the state lottery. The internet gambling industry is extremely
lucrative and can mean significant increases in taxable revenue. This additional
revenue to the government is then funneled into social programs and other
state-run programs to benefit Bulgarians. Important is the fact that the country
will now have to increase the number of state-run programs that address gambling
addiction and other behaviors associated with the pastime, or else the country
could face a slew of stemming issues.
As for the country’s state lottery – the three-way governing coalition, in
addition to approving the online casinos, will allow more companies to
participate in selling lottery tickets – thus increasing the state revenue from
that sector of the gambling industry as well. Now that the regulatory amendments
have been approved, the online gambling industry wont have to wait long before
applying for Bulgarian internet gambling licenses. |
