Online Casinos Lose Their Seal
The internet gambling industry is considered dangerous and ripe with criminal
activity by many outside of the industry, and by several national governments.
But what many don’t realize is that there are actually several organizations and
watchdog groups that monitor the online casinos and gambling industry with
player protection at the forefront of concerns. And while some still believe
that groups like the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance group
(eCOGRA) are for show more than anything else, the recent withdrawal of six
eCOGRA seals of “Safe and Fair” indicate that the player protection group is in
fact consistently monitoring the sites that carry the group’s seal.
There is always going to be some sort of speculation within the online casinos
gambling industry and through governments seeking to limit internet gambling for
a variety of reasons. But at the same time, eCOGRA is internationally recognized
for superior standards as far as the approval and monitoring of online casino
sites. The eCOGRA “Safe and Fair” seal acts as an assurance to internet gamblers
who have many gaming options.
eCOGRA announced that it has pulled the groups seal from six online casinos that
did not fully pass the last maintenance inspection. Though these companies may
earn the seal back once eCOGRA finishes investigating the casino operations, the
seal is pulled during the investigation. The six affected gambling Web sites
include: Challenge Casino, Golden Reef, I Big Casino, Music Hall, Nostalgia, and
the UK Casino Club.
eCOGRA has sent a letter to each of the internet gambling sites informing them
of the changes to eCOGRA approval status and has additionally requested that
each of the online gambling companies address the specific areas that eCOGRA
found were not up to the company’s Generally Accepted Principles. |
