Emotive Online Casino Poker Avatar

Internet poker is going to a whole new level with the new Epoc headsets which will allow a poker player’s facial expressions and basic emotions to show on their poker avatar as they play the game. Online casino poker is a markedly different game from land poker gambling for the mere fact that land players have the ability to read their opponents throughout the game and make calls based on the person’s behavior. In online casino poker gambling though, the players are not face-to-face and instead use avatars to represent each player at a poker table – this makes calling a bluff a bit harder on the internet poker player because they have no visual clues. All of that though could be changing with the new “mind reading” headset from Emotiv.

According to the San Francisco based development company Emotiv, the Epoc headset reads a players thoughts and emotions through electrical impulses in the player’s brain. The headset can be then used to transfer those impulses into expressions on the player’s online casino poker avatar. Emotiv claims that the device will accurately transfer a slew of player behaviors to the avatar, a few include: winks, grimaces, smiles. Emotiv asserts that the non-invasive electroencephalography technology can even read emotions such as happiness and can then translate those feelings to a player’s online casino poker avatar.

The devices are moderately priced at $299 and as the number of online casino poker players using the devices at the poker rooms increases, the company expects that emotive avatars will transform and revolutionize the internet poker and gaming industry as a whole.
