A New Loophole
The US online casino gambling market simply refuses to be crushed; the US
government has passed a ban on internet gambling yet sites in the US are finding
all of the loopholes to get through. The latest questionable internet gambling
sites comes in the form of another “private club” setting. The club is set up so
that players are still able to gamble on domestic and international sporting
events – this is where the situation gets a bit sticky. The US government is
fast becoming very specific about the use of the internet to facilitate online
casino gambling and betting with any companies; there are only a couple of
sectors of the industry that have been granted carve-outs in the US’s federal
legislation.
The federal legislation targets gambling activity no matter if it’s at an online
casino, betting, or poker site…even more specifically, US banks are forbidden to
process payment transactions with these companies. The new sportsbetting site,
BetAgainstMe.com is based out of Los Gatos, California is actually a bit unique
though it its format. The previous gambling “private club” format online
gambling sites have raised profit by charging the members a membership fee to
join the site, then allowing the gamblers to gamble to the hearts content with
play money.
This site on the other hand is a bit different; there are no membership fees and
no money expenditure at all for the online gamblers – that zeros the risk for
the gambler making the site presumably a hundred percent free and clear of US
government obstacles. The site apparently plans to make the money for the weekly
prizes through advertising and sponsorship deals. |
