KGC Criticisms
There seems to be no stone unturned and no part of the cheating scandal left
without criticism in the recent media attention focused on Absolute Poker and
Ultimate Bet. The two online casino poker gambling sites involved in the
scandals are licensed from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. The KGC operates
outside of the scrutiny of Canadian law and instead is a way for the Mohawk
tribe to bring in huge levels of revenue. The Washington Post article published
recently was highly critical of the KGC and even the Sixty Minutes program
(which covered a lot of information) also had elements of strong criticism for
the secret nature of the KGC’s licensing and regulation.
Unlike many online casinos and certainly the licensing jurisdictions, the KGC is
quite secretive and refuses to answer some of the more basic and general
questions regarding the way that the Commission operates. In fact, there is no
telling even how many employees work for the KGC. Frank Catania has a long
standing and respected reputation in the online casino gambling industry.
Earlier this year, Catania accepted the KGC’s request for Frank to investigate
the two online caisno poker cheating scandals. Catania’s conclusion was the
announcement of a perpetrator for the Ultimate Bet scandal.
Catania though actually came across additional information – the KGC is a small
run operation with just three members of the board and a highly secrective
selection and regulation process. Additionally, the KGC has released no
additional information concerning the number of employees working for the
Commission. |
