Questioning the Lottery Integrity
The land and online casino gambling industry over the past two years has really
encountered some heavy scandals and allegations and the lottery industry has
not been an exception to this trend. Specifically, the Canadian gambling
industry has encountered some scandal allegations that its having a hard time
shaking off despite a recent study concluding that the wins by lottery retailers
and their families were within the acceptable range. Interestingly enough,
although scandals at the online casinos and poker sites take top priority in the
international news media, the ongoing issues within the Canadian lottery have
not gotten much play in the media.
One of the reasons, perhaps, that the officials are fairly unconcerned with the
allegations against the lottery is the fact that new protocols are in place and
the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) has been apparently working diligently to
institute new polices that safeguard against this issue. Another interesting
point, the online casino poker gambling scandals that came out of Canada just
last year have really overshadowed some of the smaller issues the poker
cheating scandals were worth millions.
But, despite the low playing coverage of the new results published by an ALC
study, there are some concerns. The stats show that the amounts won by family
members is greater than is probable according to statistician, Ian Dohoo (but is
still entirely possible 1 in 285). Others in the land and online casino lottery
industry though merely note that retailers and their families are more likely to
play higher stakes games this they contend counts for the discrepancies. |
