No Hardships for Online Casinos
Critics of the UK regulations and policies in relation to the UK land gambling
industry are beginning to make their objections known as the global economic
crises and unfair UK regulations cause hardships for land based casinos. The
Gambling Act of 2005 liberalized the British online casino gambling market a
lot…but on the flip side, the land gambling venues were given very few
leniencies and tax breaks as a way to cope with the new flourishing internet
gambling industry and in fact faced additional regulations and taxes. Now that
the global market is beginning to slow land casinos are forced to close down
operations because of hardships – this means hundreds British citizens are
losing their jobs and hundreds more are in a perilous position.
Nick Harding, an executive at Praesepe and British Amusement Catering Trade
Association recently had some very choice words for the British government about
just precisely what is need in the land gambling industry to weather the
slumping economy. Harding opined in the Times Online, “Since 2005, when the
Gambling Act was supposed to usher in a new era for our industry, manufacturing
output in this sector has decreased by 55 percent and more than 25 percent of
the manufacturing workforce have lost their jobs.”
Harding’a main line throughout the article centers on the fact that the land and
online casino gambling industries have no equalization – and rather than
additional regulations, Harding suggests a simple adjustment to the minimum
stake and prize limits for land gambling venues. |
