The Damage Assessed: 3
The Sixty Minutes program could have been a lot worse for Tokwiro enterprises –
the entire situation was made out to be a huge issue sin the international media
over the past several weeks, but, in fact, the program only did some minor
damage. And even more importantly for the other online casinos and internet
poker gambling sites not involved in the scandal, the program only had a few
wide-sweeping negative comments about the industry as a whole. One of the more
salient points made by the program concerned just how Tokwiro Enterprises has
handled the prosecution and bringing justice to those who stole the millions
from unsuspecting online casino poker gamblers.
The program also provided a very strong link between the online poker gambling
sites in question, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, and the Gaming Commission
supposedly licensing and regulating these two companies. The fact that there has
been little justice brought to the one online caisno poker gambler linked to the
crime has been purported to directly relate to the fact that the founder and
head of Tokwiro Enterprises is the former Grand Chief of the Kahnawake tribe –
the very Chief who established the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and now operates
within the Commissions sphere of influence.
Tokwiro and the KGC claim that Russ Hamilton, the one player officially linked
to the crime scandal, is too hard to find – at least that’s the excuse for why
this player has not been arrested and tried for the crimes. Also questionable is
the fact that Tokwiro’s gambling license from the KGC has never been suspended
for any period of time in relation to this huge online poker cheating scandal
despite the very serious nature of the crimes. |
