A New Chairman
Ladbrokes has announced that the long-time Chairman of the company is stepping
down in the spring of 2009 and has appointed Peter Erskine as the company’s new
Chairman. The current Chairman, Sir Ian Robinson has been with Ladbrokes for
eight years and has seen the company through major strategy overhauls, a launch
into the online caisno gambling industry and the launch of the brand into new
and emerging markets. Robinson is stepping down from his position on May 15,
2009 and Erskine will take over full time at that point. Ladbrokes is a UK based
land and online casino gambling group that started out in the land bookmaking
industry and now has interests in a wide range of sectors both on land and
through the internet.
Under Robinson’s Chairmanship Ladbrokes was able to gain some very real ground
within the online caisno gambling industry. Ladbrokes, like a couple of the
other major UK land bookies was a bit slow in launching into the internet sector
of the gambling industry. Fortunately, the Ladbrokes team saw the huge growth
potential for this sector of the market and launched the respected Ladbrokes
brand onto an online casino gambling site as well as an internet bookie, and
aspirations to have a solid holding in the internet poker gambling industry.
Ladbrokes now has land and online casino gambling interests in both Spain and
Italy in addition to the holdings with the UK market. The company is in a solid
position for continued growth and Erskine has a strong track-record in related
industries. |
