Profiling Online Casino Poker Players
Gamblers and bettors can head to the online casinos and betting shops for just
about any sport or game on in the world, but when it comes to Tennis gambling,
the Association of Tennis Professionals is coming down hard on any tennis
professionals who choose to gamble on tennis matches. Tennis betting has come
under scrutiny in recent months thanks to scrutiny from the online casinos and
increased pressure from the ATP to stop tennis wagering. Most notably, Betfair
voided a tennis match last year because of suspicious betting patterns and
comments that were made by one of the tennis players involved.
The most recent announcement by the ATP indicates that two poker professionals
have been investigated and suspended for betting on tennis matches despite the
ATP’s very clear rules against tennis betting at the land and online casino
betting companies. The two tennis players, Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak,
were not found to have participated in any sort of betting scandal and did not
bet on their own matches, but regardless they did break the rules and have been
suspended as a result.
As for last year’s tennis betting scandal involving the Betfair online casino
betting company, Betfair voided all bets related to a match involving Nikolay
Davydenko. Davydenko and another player were not brought up on any charges of
throwing the match, but suspicious betting patterns caused concern with Betfair
officials. Other issues have arisen over the past year in the European online
betting industry with clashes between the internet betting sites and the ATP. |
