Are the Republicans Flip-Flopping - 1
This is certainly not the venue to get into a discussion over the merits of
online casino gambling – that has been done in previous GambleCraft articles,
but it simply cannot be denied that the Republican Party is doing a bit of tap
dancing when it comes to addressing the issue of internet gambling. The
Republican Platform Committee is definitely looking to strengthen the party’s
widespread appeal on the one hand, but on the other hand has to remain in a good
position with the conservative right. The latest issue to divide the supporters
of a regulated and licensed internet gambling industry allowing foreign online
casinos controlled access to the U.S. market comes as the Republican Platform
Committee changed its opinion on the online gambling issue within a very short
time period.
The Poker Players Alliance has thrown down the gauntlet to Republican online
casino gamblers who are interested in seeing the Conservative right readdress
some of the blatant objections to the internet gambling industry from within the
current Republican Party Platform. Members of the PPA were encouraged to flood
the Republican Platform Committee forums with their requests of alterations to
the current anti-online casinos language in the party’s published platform.
The Republican Party is behind the controversial anti- online gambling
legislation that rocked the international internet gambling industry two years
ago. Added to that is the fact that Republicans have continued to block efforts
by internet casino gambling supporters that are looking to pass regulation and
licensing legislation for the internet gambling industry. |
