Appropriate Action?
The Borgata land casino is facing some controversy after the manager of the
facility asked a patron to leave the poker tables because of his body odor.
Fortunately for online casino gamblers this is just something that you never
dream of encountering while gambling from your home. But while at the public
casinos it is an entirely different matter and apparently a matter that is
serious enough to cause the facility’s manager to get involved in finding an
appropriate solution – after all, there is no delicate way to tell a person that
they need to leave the poker tables because of the personal hygiene.
The situation occurred in Atlantic City at the Borgata – a well established
gambling casino with no history of such occurrences. According Michael Wax, the
individual in question in the situation, he was asked to leave the poker tables
while in front of other patrons. Wax is 440 pounds and a limo driver who had
been playing at the Borgata poker tables for 17 straight hours – only getting up
to use the bathrooms when necessary. In the online casino gambling and poker
issues, once again, you encounter few of these issues, but at land gambling
venues 17 hours sitting in one spot is a bit intense.
The manager of the Borgata apparently approached Wax first in the bathrooms to
address the issue of his personal hygiene – ie his very strong body odor, but
when the issue continued unaddressed from Wax the manager approached Wax at the
tables and asked him to leave. Wax noted though that he was fully aware that he
had some personal hygiene issues, he even commented to the manager at the time,
"There's no question I stink. I'm not denying it. I do have an odor. I've been
playing for 17 hours.”
Max is seeking a formal apology from the Borgata casino and has officially
complained to the Gambling Commission. |
