Gambling Association's Report
Those Canadians and international online casinos gambling companies fearing that
the Canadian government plans to pass new restrictive legislation on the
nation’s internet gambling industry can take a least a temporary sigh of relief.
The Canadian Gambling Association released a report last week covering the
effect of land and online casinos gambling on the nation – everything from the
economy to the social impact. The Canadian media has widely circulated
statistics from the largely positive report that seems to support the
continuance of land and internet gambling.
The Association’s report gives an independent look and analysis of the land and
online casinos gambling industry in Canada, something that has been widely
criticized in the past few months. The Association’s report was actually quite
positive with statistics that indicate that the land gambling industry provides
significant jobs and state revenue.
According to the report, the land gambling industry (completely independent of
the online casinos gambling industry which is not highly regulated at this
point) contributes more than 267,000 full-time jobs across the country and
generates $15.3 billion a year that goes back into the nation’s economy. And the
Association’s report indicated that a huge percentage of the land casino
gambling industry’s revenue goes back into the economy through governmental
support as well as funding many social programs.
The land and online casinos gambling industry have been under scrutiny in the
past several months because of complaints from the horseracing industry that
internet gambling is hindering the long-term viability of horserace betting. And
although the Association’s report was largely positive about land gambling, the
criticisms are already beginning. |
