U.S. Recession Affects Online Casino Gambling

Whether or not the United States is going into a recession is an argument for economists rather than an online casinos gambling information site. So without choosing one side of the debate over another, the fact remains the same that Sun Cruz Casinos that operated out of Florida have closed down and attributed the closure, in part, to the troubles that the U.S. economy has faced in the past couple of years. The Sun Cruz company offered players a chance to travel offshore, into international waters, and gamble at land slots, table games, online casinos, and other gambling activities. But with expansions in the Florida land gambling and pari-mutuel industry as well as a weakening economy, the company laid off all 150 employees and will no longer offer the cruises.

Sun Cruz Casinos was the largest offshore online casinos gambling operation in the world and was a popular way to gamble in Florida when even slot machines and most forms of land gambling were illegal. But all of that changed just a couple of years ago with the expansion of the slots machine and land casino gambling industry. A large factor that played into the decision stop operating the cruises stemmed from the fact that many casinos and pari-mutuel gambling facilities had opened up right near the Sun Cruz ports, significantly decreasing the company’s business.

The company’s 150 employees were given the option to work for Ocean Casino Cruises operating out of Port Canaveral. But those not looking to uproot and move to the area were given two-weeks salary, an apology from the company, and their pink-slip.

There is no doubting that the land and online casinos gambling industries have been at least moderately affected by the problems in the current U.S. economy no matter what you call them (the beginnings of a recession or something else). So far land gambling in Las Vegas has not reported significant changes in U.S. gambling habits, but it remains to be seen if U.S. gamblers continue to expend money on what is a hobby for most.
