A Pillar Within the Entertainment Industry
The Canadian media is full of articles concerning the recent comprehensive
report released from the Canadian Gambling Association which gives an in depth
look at the effects of land and online casinos gambling in Canada. The report is
one of the most detailed investigations into the nation’s gambling industry to
date and looks at the wide-sweeping impact of land gambling on providing
employment and bringing revenue into the economy. There is little specific
information on online casinos gambling considering the fact that the industry is
largely unregulated in Canada and operates through the Kahnawake Mohawk Tribe.
But the information on the land gambling industry was thorough and quite
positive considering the often times negative rap that gambling takes all over
the world.
The Association’s report really harped on the fact that Canada has structured
the land and online casinos gambling industry so that a large portion of the
revenue goes right back to the people. Gambling revenue goes to local and state
governments through taxes and a large portion of the revenue goes right back
into social programs and the such.
The President of the Association, Bill Rutsey, comments on how land and online
casinos gambling is entirely integrated into the country. Rutsey notes, “Gaming
has grown significantly over the past decade to become an essential pillar of
the entertainment industry in Canada. It is now demonstrably clear how the
majority of spending in the industry goes directly back to Canadians in the form
of paycheques, construction in communities, and revenues for the programs and
services and charities that we value.”
Essentially, the Association found that despite criticism from various interest
groups about the land and online casinos gambling industry, land gambling is
largely helpful and funds needed programs within Canada. |
