A New Link to Online Casinos Gambling?
A new study may indicate just why sex sells in terms of advertising and
marketing, particularly when related to online casinos gambling. Researchers at
Stanford University have found a link between erotic images and increased levels
of risky gambling decisions. The link was supposed previously, in fact, the
United Kingdom actually has strict advertising limitations for land and online
casino gambling companies related to the use of sexual advertising to entice
gamblers. The Stanford University researchers have perhaps found the link
between why sex-related and erotic imagery has long been effective advertising
strategies for land and online gambling companies.
The research study found that both erotic images and high-stakes financial
gambling trigger a reaction in the same part of the brain in young men. Camelia
Kuhnen, a professor of finance at Northwestern University and one of the study’s
researchers commented on the research study’s findings, "You have a need in an
evolutionary sense for both money and women. They trigger the same brain area."
This research study could potentially have a positive effect for better
understanding online casinos gambling addictions in addition to altering current
advertising guidelines and restrictions for land and internet gambling
companies.
The study specifics included 15 young men who were shown a series of images,
some erotic soft-core illustrations, other scary illustrations, and neutral
illustrations that have no real emotional effect on an individual. In a nut
shell, what the researchers found is that the erotic images lit up a separate
area of the brain from the other images, the Nucleus Accumbens. This is the same
area of the brain that is linked to the risky financial gambles one would find
in land and online casinos gambling. |
