Germany Launches Online Casino
Just months ago the German government passed very restrictive legislation in
support of the nation’s online casinos gambling monopoly. And now, Germany’s
land gambling company has announced a new deal with the Canadian based Chartwell
internet gambling software providers to launch a new German online gambling Web
site completely legal in the country and target specifically at the German
gambling market. Spielbanken Niedersachsen GmbH (SNG) currently holds a land and
internet gambling monopoly that has caused concerns in the international online
casinos gambling industry because the restrictive legislation is in blatant
violation of European Union treaties.
The European Commissioner has been in talks with the German governments for
months, but the talks appear to have no real affect on the nation’s online
casinos gambling legislation in light of the new German legislation that passed
in early January. And although there is every likelihood that Germany could face
a case before the European Court of Justice for the monopolistic practices, at
this point there is no end in sight for the land and online casinos gambling
monopoly.
As for SNG though, the only legal land and online casinos gambling operator in
the country, the new internet gambling site is anticipated to enhance the
company’s offerings. The CEO at SNG, Rainer Chrubassik, recently commented on
the new site, “The project is unique in Germany and will point the way for
future developments." The new online gambling site will be launched next month
if all goes according to plan, and German gamblers will once again have access
to a multitude of legal internet gambling games if not options of companies at
this point. |
