Germans Love Online Casinos Poker
Germany is one of the ten European member-states illegally operating land and
online casinos gambling monopolies in the state which openly defy EU trade
policies. But it seems that despite the legislation that blocks foreign internet
gambling companies from operating in the German market, Germans are finding a
way to play poker at the online casinos. A new report from Deutsche Welle
indicates that Germany has a booming land and internet poker following despite
heavy regulations in the land gambling industry and unenforced restrictions
within the internet gambling industry.
At this point, Germany is in a state of flux on the online casinos gambling
issue. The country is under investigation by the European Commission for running
a state gambling monopoly, but despite the investigation the German government
continues to pass support legislation that will further protect the state’s land
and online casinos gambling monopolies. But despite new legislation and moves to
further regulate and protect the state’s internet gambling industry from foreign
operators, nearly half of the internet poker gambling done in the state goes
through foreign operators licensed in one of the many remote licensing
jurisdictions.
There is some concern by not only the online casinos gambling companies looking
to enter the German gambling market legally, but by those who fear that the
current state of legislation leaves internet gamblers and poker players
vulnerable. According to he Welle report, German online gamblers spend more than
Euro 1 million and more than 200,000 gamblers participated in some from of
internet gambling be it at the internet casinos or poker sites.
There is definitely room in Germany for more decisive and inclusive online
casino gambling legislation. |
