Figuring Out the Details
Legal problems, questions, and issues plague online casino gambling companies,
and to reign in the costs of out-sourcing legal advice, many companies are now
actively building their own in-house team of lawyers. Party Gaming just recently
announced the hiring of a new addition to the company’s legal team. Victoria
Allison is now a permanent part of the Party Gaming team, and is particularly
needed as the online casinos gambling company strives to avoid any legal issues
in the coming years in light of the ongoing problems with the U.S. government.
In 2006 the United States passed a ban on foreign online casinos gambling
companies accessing the U.S. market. At that point, the majority of the internet
gambling companies, including Party Gaming, exited the U.S. market. And though
withdrawing from the U.S. gambling industry meant a significant decline in both
market and revenue, the company voluntarily pulled out in light of the new U.S.
legislation. But that hasn’t meant that the online casinos company is free from
U.S. legal action – ongoing legality issues between the U.S. and Party Gaming
are a contributing factor to the company’s decision to create a solid in-house
legal team.
The Assistant General Counsel at the Party Gaming online casinos gambling, James
Elliot, noted that the company felt that daily legal assistance would allow
Party Gaming to “limit…outsourcing only to where there's a requirement for
specialist knowledge that it does not make sense to retain in-house." Allison
will live in Gibraltar and operate out of the main Party Gaming offices serving
as the daily liaison for future legal concerns as well as assist the company in
ironing out the issues with the U.S. |
