Monopoly Announces New CEO
The Swedish online casinos gambling monopoly Svenske Spel has announced a new
CEO at the company after reports that the CEO and the owner have not seen
eye-to-eye on some of the more fundamental aspects of the company’s operations.
Former CEO, Jesper Kärrbrink announced just last week that he and the Board of
Directors decided it was best if the Board look for a new CEO to operate one of
the largest online casinos gambling monopolies in the world. Kärrbrink has been
with the company for roughly four years and both Kärrbrink and the Board
commented that that experience had mutually beneficial, but that it was time for
a change.
Svenske Spel exclusively operates online casinos gambling in Sweden thanks to
protectionist legislation that is actually a time-bomb that will only last for
so long before the European Court of Justice forces the country to open the
market to other EU member states. The Chairperson of the Board of Directors,
Margareta Winberg, commented on the transition to a new CEO and spoke fondly of
Kärrbrink. Winberg’s statement of behalf of the online casinos gambling company
touched briefly on the problems between Kärrbrink and the owner of Svenske Spel,
"I regret that Jesper Kärrbrink now leaves Svenska Spel. He has been a creative
leader and has re-organised Svenska Spel in an efficient way. But I also
understand Jesper’s situation. If you do not share the owner’s fundamental
perspective on how the company should be governed you can no longer be the
leader of the company."
As for where the online casinos gambling company is headed now, Svenske Spel’s
statement noted that Anders Hägg – the company’s finance executive, would fill
in until the Board found a suitable replacement. |
