Crack Down on Illegal Betting
The Italian government is no longer tolerating illegal online casino gambling
activities in the country and early reports this week indicate that the Italian
Financial police have already begun the crack down. In the recent months the
Italian government has been reluctant to allow online casinos carte blanche
access to Italians, but the government is considering regulating and licensing
the industry. But some internet gambling and betting companies just couldn’t
wait to access the Italian gambling industry, and as such were busted by the
Italian Financial Police and many of those involved could face charges.
Though the official reports are not yet in, an AGI report indicated that the
Financial Police uncovered a gambling and betting ring that used a complex
payment system to evade detection by the AAMS authorization system. The online
casino betting ring was unlicensed in Italy, and therefore many of the involved
could face stiff consequences. No names or locations have been released, but
reports have also indicated that as many as 20 centres were involved in the
illegal online casino betting ring.
As far as the individuals involved in the illegal online casino betting ring are
concerned, the Italian Financial Guard have interviewed more than 56 people
allegedly involved in the gambling ring, and taken names and information for
many more who may be subject to investigation at a later time. |
