Online Casino Gambling --- Casino News

Gambling Commission and the U.S.

The United States has banned online casino gambling through limiting the ability of financial institutions to process payments from gambling related Web sites. The U.S.’s Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement, even almost one year later, is highly controversial – and perhaps for that reason the UK’s Gambling Commission has no plans to keep online casinos licensed in the UK from accessing the U.S. market. The Gambling Commission has both created new restrictions on the internet gambling industry, and also given more lee-way on previous restrictions and regulations.

The new “reign” over the online casino and land-based gambling industry is officially under-way, and just weeks into the Gambling Commission coming into power some online casinos are awaiting decisions. The entire British gambling industry is now under the control of the Gambling Commission – and most agree that in the coming years the Commission’s regulatory regime will shape other countries policy on online casino gambling.

A positive change that most of the betting companies are touting as great policy are the new advertising capabilities under the new regulations. Now companies like William Hill, Ladbrokes, and others in various sectors like the online casino industry have set times and mediums they can use to advertise gambling activities.

Perhaps the most notable positive aspect attributed to the Gambling Commission is the Commissions ability to control the online casino and land-based gambling industry without seemingly reactionary laws. The U.S. on the other hand enacted the UIGEA and has begun to enforce the UIGEA by arresting high-ranking executives and the founders of online casino companies that operated in the U.S. after the UIGEA. The U.S. Department of Justice also prosecuted Neteller, an e-wallet used by many Americans after the UIGEA can into effect.

Though these methods are effective on a base-level, most in the global online casino industry find the regulations imposed by the Gambling Commission much more effective at protecting gamblers and preventing unlawful and criminal activities.
