Sweden Questions Online Casinos

The Swedish Gaming authorities are cracking down on online casino gambling companies operating out of the country – or they are at least getting precise information on the extent of various companies’ operations. The Swedish Gaming Board has sent targeted mailings to the main online casinos companies that have any sort of operations based on Swedish soil. Companies that had a questionable structure were sent questionnaires that inquired about what specific branches of the gambling company were operating at the Swedish location.

Specifically, the Swedish gaming authorities were concerned with the possibility that online casino companies were operating the gambling end of the company on Swedish soil. Because of specific gambling regulations in the country, it is necessary that the Gaming Board is aware of the exact extent of online casino activities.

Multiple online casinos companies were questioned – and the majority of the gambling related companies hold internet gambling licenses from a different jurisdiction (Sweden does not license and regulate internet gambling). Specifically, 24hPoker was one of the companies under question. 24hPoker, like many of the other online casino companies sent the questionnaires fully cooperated with the Swedish government and clarified the exact nature of the company’s business on Swedish soil.

Many of the companies targeted by the Swedish Gaming Board’s inquiries have already complied with all that is asked of them and are not simply waiting for further instructions or questions from the Gaming Board.
