Award Winners List
This year was tough for some online casinos due to changing legislation and
regulations in various countries, but others showed great promise and fortitude.
To recognize the outstanding companies in the internet gaming industry, the
third annual eGaming Awards was held last week. The event was held in London at
the Natural History Museum and handed out awards recognizing a variety of
accomplishments in the online casino, betting, sports betting, internet poker,
and related online gaming industries.
Some of the winners were of no surprise; companies like Betfair and Sportingbet
took home top honors. But some of the companies in the online casino industry
were a little harder to guess a head of time because so many of the internet
gambling sites were hit hard by the U.S. withdrawal from the market. And on top
of that, the online casinos industry has been subject to significant changes not
including the U.S.’s legislation. In the UK, many internet gambling companies
were forced to overhaul policies and procedures to align with the 2005 Gambling
Act that took effect on September 1, 2007.
