Online Casino Poker for Women
Women are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the online casino and
land –based poker industry. Poker has traditionally attracted more men than
women, but Paddy Power out of Ireland is committed to introducing the game to
women – and more that, the poker chief at Paddy Poker is interested in nurturing
the women in poker movement. Though the top professionals in the online casinos
and land-based poker industries are still certainly men, a few prominent women
players are no the norm in all of the high-stakes tourneys.
Paddy Power announced the line-up of events for the annual Irish Open, and
surprisingly to some, women now have their very own event – the Irish Open
Ladies. Taking place during the main Open itself, the Poker Chief at Paddy
Power, Nikki Newman commented about the women’s Open as a special and very
personal project for her because of the lack of presence in land-based online
casinos poker tourneys. She notes, "I am very excited about it. I have always
felt something of a personal compunction to help bring more women into the game.
Colette Doherty, Irene Tier and Jenny Heggerty, showed us just how much power
there is in the Irish ladies game. So what better backdrop could there be for a
ladies poker event than the Irish Open itself!"
And besides the Irish Open Ladies portion of the event, the schedule holds one
other surprise for Irish Open regulars - a No Limit Hold 'em Double Chance Scalp
tournament. With a reasonably low buy-in the event is expecting good attendance
at the new Open event. Players from all over the globe are welcome to attend the
event and Paddy Power anticipates prominent players from both the land-based
poker tournament crowd, and the online casinos players. Though the online casino
industry so often caters to the largely amateur crowd, many gambling sites are
specifically targeting larger, high-stakes online tourneys to lure in more
sophisticated internet gamblers.
The event is scheduled for March of 2008 and will include a week of scheduled
Open events.
