The Dollar Becomes Obsolete
With the United States effectively out of the online casino and internet
gambling industries, the popular e-gaming companies are switching currencies to
better accommodate their existing player base. There is little indication that
the U.S. government will neutralize the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act anytime
soon, so a move from the dollar to the Euro is a largely positive move for the
online casinos companies. Specifically, all of the internet gambling sites on
the Boss Media network now run on the Euro rather than the dollar – and to
assuage any user concerns, a Boss spokesperson highlighted the benefits to both
the company, and the players.
CelebPoker is one of the many popular online casinos poker sites on the Boss
network that commented that the switch to the Euro will greatly benefit the
internet gamblers. The largest benefit to the players is the “chance to
effectively win a lot more money” because "the Euro is a much stronger currency
than the Dollar at the moment,” according to a statement from CelebPoker
concerning the switchover.
Boss Media made the switch to the new network at the beginning of the month, and
during the transition, the company focused on creating a minimal amount of
confusion and downtime for the online casinos players using sites on the
network. And now that the currency is effectively switched over everything at
the online casino and poker sites on the network is shown in Euros: players
accounts, prize pools, and both the deposit and withdrawal process.
And though some of the network’s online casino and poker players expressed
concern over loosing the ability to use the popular e-wallets, the move is
largely well-received – and perhaps the big e-wallets will also consider a move
to the Euro. The Poker Room Manager at CelebPoker, Linda Donovan, elaborates on
the benefits to the online casinos players now using the Euro, “As most of our
players currently use the Euro every day, the currency change is definitely a
necessary move for CelebPoker. I am confident all of our players from around the
world will also relish opportunity to play for bigger cash prizes and see this
as a really positive move."
