Irish Bookmaker Departs IBA
The online casino industry is often full of turmoil and the bookmaking sector is
naturally no different. A recent ATE news report indicated that the prominent
Irish bookmaker, Paddy Power has departed from the Irish Bookmakers Association
(IBA). The IBA’s objectives apparently differ from the Paddy Power and for that
reason the two have split.
The IBA is the preeminent place for Irish betting shops throughout Ireland –
many of which are small and localized whereas Paddy Power is quickly growing and
gaining recognition and has even announced the possibility of expansion outside
of the Green Isle. Online casino gambling in the UK is fiercely competitive
though, so Paddy Power would have to really focus on branding and developing a
UK customer base to successfully make the transition.
Paddy Power has no direct affiliation with the online casinos gambling industry
except the inherent link of internet-based gambling. Beyond that though, Paddy
Power and the IBA apparently differed in terms of IBA objectives. The IBA’s
objectives center on bolstering small bookmakers, repatriation, and further
funding for the horseracing industry.
