A CEO's Blog
No matter what side you take in the online casino gambling issue, you have to
hand it to Calvin Ayre for having the gall to not only blatantly defy U.S.
restrictions concerning internet gambling, but to also somewhat taunt the U.S.
courts, companies, and copyrights. Ayre, the CEO and founder of the Bodog brand
has openly blogged about the ongoing case between Bodog and 1st Technology. 1st
Technology was awarded Bodog’s U.S. based domain names which in fact did not
actually hamper Bodog’s ability to operate the Bodog.com online casino poker
site for more than 24 hours. And continued action from 1st Technology has only
prompted Ayre to publicly blog and even taunt the CEO at 1st Technology, Dr.
Scott Lewis.
Ayre is fast becoming known for his derisive remarks about any company or
country that comes between the company and its mission to provide online casino
poker services to the U.S. market. As the case continues, he is essentially
goading 1st Technology’s CEO to enter to what is tantamount to corporate
name-calling. Ayre mentioned in his blog that Lewis personally requested via
email that Ayre stop using the name “patent troll” in reference to Dr. Lewis –
and then went on to challenge Lewis to a boxing duel. Additionally, the online
casino poker company scoffs at 1st Technology’s attempts to shut down
operations. He notes, "After witnessing Bodog's ability to rapidly react to
losing control of its domains, 1st Technology has issued a press release with a
number of inaccuracies regarding the case and Ayre's actual legal involvement.
Often contradicting the same points initially and legally argued by 1st
Technology, the press release exposed a noticeable degree of desperation.”
The latest blog simply continues in this vain and is a clear indication that
Bodog is confident that it will continue to successfully operate online casino
poker software despite Ayre surely feels is a frivolous lawsuit.
