U.S. Decision Coming Soon
Within the next two weeks the co-founders of NETeller should attend a hearing in
the United States—if the judge doesn’t push back the hearing again. Also in that
time frame those U.S. based players who used NETeller as an e-wallet so they
could gamble at online casinos will find out when they will receive the funds
that were still remaining in their accounts when NETeller shut down U.S.
operations.
In addition to the NETeller decisions, the online casino poker community is
waiting to see what the U.S. plans to do about the internet poker sites still
operating for U.S. players. In the recent weeks, the sites still operating have
shown that the U.S. players are coming back in droves. Pokerstars.com and
FullTiltPoker are two of the U.S. accepted Web sites and have been operating
despite the anti-online casinos legislation.
Then, because many of the e-wallets like NETeller have left the U.S. market,
myWebATM.com is a site that accepts U.S. player deposits…one of the few sites
that financial institutions will still add funds and payout to. But just because
these online casino poker sites are still accepting U.S. players, does not mean
that the activity is legal in the U.S. for the companies.
Because of the anti-online casinos legislation, and clarifications that have
been added since, if a U.S. player can find a site that will accept U.S. monies,
than they can gamble because the act has not made online casino gambling illegal
for players, rather for financial institutions. So for the sites still accepting
U.S. players and monies, it seems to just be a game of waiting…what will the
U.S. decide?
