New Skill Games Offered
Since online casino gambling can have many drawbacks like addiction, abuse of
the system, and more, some countries are instead choosing to offer games of
skill. A Belgian newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad, is now offering games of skill on
its online Web site. Unlike online casinos, this site offers simply games, no
betting involved. The newspaper has developed a distribution agreement with
GameArena AB, and in the future both companies plan on expanding the site’s
offerings.
Some of the next generation skill games offered include: Backgammon, Solitaire,
8-Ball Pool, and Golf Hole-in-One. This is just the start though. Corelio Media
Group is the parent company to the newspaper, and has given full approval for
future plans that include a Web site that uses the newspaper’s brand, and
GamArena’s skill based games. The sites are a far cry from the glitzy online
casinos sites offered in other counties, but both companies believe they will
have a strong player base as advertising and word-of-mouth continue.
Nieuwsblad.be’s Managing Director, Patrick Salien, commented on the partnership,
“Games will become an important piece of our online offering and p2p skill games
provide enormous entertainment to players. We have been really impressed by the
quality of the GamArena proposition to date.” The newspaper company thoroughly
supports this non-online casino platform, and both Nieuwsblad and GamArena are
excited about the growth prospects.
