MSN: Last One Standing
Recently, Google made many companies in the online casino industry upset with
the new policy that places even more restrictions on advertisements for internet
gambling through the popular search engine. Though Google had already appeased
the UK’s, U.S., and company restrictions on internet gambling advertisements,
this new policy takes it one step further to include any and all Web sites that
offer content related to gambling. But this outrage in the industry leaves MSN
looking positive as they are now the only major search engine that allows online
casinos advertisements.
Though Google has tried to come back from the online casino industry wide
backlash from this recent announcement regarding pay-to-play internet gambling
sites, most are just frustrated that the company has no really viable
explanation for the new policy. And now, across the board the major online
casino information sites are reporting this new policy, and they are certainly
not painting it in a positive light.
Big Mouth Media (bigmouthmedia.com) is one of those sites that is not
particularly pleased to report on Google’s anti-online casino advertisements
policy. Though Google released a statement accounting for the company’s decision
to amend the old bans and make them include more sites, Big Mouth is
specifically criticizing the company's choice to include Web sites that involve
only play-money – they are not even online casino gambling sites! Big Mouth’s
take on this issue: “Google and Yahoo have both recently banned advertisements
on pay-to-play online gambling websites in the UK, but Google are the first
major engine to ban all forms of online gambling advertising from their service…
This leaves MSN as the only one of the three major search engines still allowing
advertising for pay-to-play gambling websites in the UK.”
