Online Casinos in Mexico
Despite restrictions in the United States, and the U.S. government’s current
firm stance against online casino gambling activities, the Mexican government
has approved legislation that will allow internet gambling within Mexico. A con
of the situation though is the fact that the Mexican government has not also
looked in to providing restrictions and regulations for the online casinos,
which could lead to money laundering, fraud, and other criminal activities.
The Mexican Department of the Interior has recently severely relaxed gambling
restrictions in many areas of gambling, including land-based and online casino
gambling. The new laws are very clear that online casinos companies are
permitted to operate in Mexico – additionally just last month, the government
also approved 300 bingo hall licenses.
The main concern now though focuses on the fact that without suffiecient
government safety measures and restrictions, the online casino companies
operating to Mexican citizens may use their own safe information practices – and
in some cases these self appointed safety measures are far less than adequate.
But not all of the online casinos planning to enter the Mexican internet
gambling market plan to allow exploitation of Mexican players. In fact, one of
the first internet gambling sites to enter the Mexican market,
BackgammonMasters.com, has encryption methods in place that ensure a higher
level of safety in gambling and online casino transactions.
