Changes for Israel's NETeller
The political climate of online casino gambling is continually changing across
the world, and Israel is just the latest of the countries to announce impending
changes regarding the legalities associated with internet gambling. The first of
the companies related to the field of online casinos and gambling to acknowledge
that the Israeli government’s position on gambling is changing is NETeller.
NETeller is the first company to announce that it is withdrawing payment
processing services effective immediately.
NETeller is a global operation that is currently facing prosecution in the
United States because of alleged illegal activities related to processing
payments to online casinos in spite of the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act. This latest announcement though does not indicate instability
within the company as NETeller has also announced that it will remain in the
Israeli market, just not in the capacity of payment processor for online casino
gambling.
NETeller’s statement also indicated that the change will be fully implemented by
July 31, 2007. Specifically, NETeller will no longer allow internet gamblers to
place bets at the online casinos as of July 19, 2007. Then, July 31, 2007 is the
last day that online casino sites can then post money to player accounts. From
that point on, all transactions through NETeller will encompass e-wallet
internet financial transactions outside of the online gambling industry.
Important in the announcement though is the fact that NETeller operations in
other countries have not been affected – all will remain accepting internet
gambling transactions if that option is a part of the area’s NETeller services.
