Swedish Gambling Company Identifies Addicts
The Swedish government has been targeted recently for running a monopoly on
online casino betting in Sweden and consistently encouraging gambling to Swedish
citizens. Critics are claiming that problem gambling is a growing concern in
Sweden, yet up until Svenska Spel’s new software, there was no way to identify
and help online casinos gambling addicts. But just recently, Svenska Spel
launched artificial intelligence software that uses previous gambling and
wagering patterns to identify when gamblers step into the danger zone of
addiction.
The intelligence software was developed by ICU Intelligence, a Swedish
intelligence firm developing software and programs for both the online casino
gambling industry, and the non-gambling computer technology industries. Other
countries and online casinos are beginning to use gambling monitoring systems to
protect gamblers, but Svenska Spel’s new software is currently the most advanced
network in place with the ability to identify when gamblers slip into addiction
90 percent of the time.
But that does not mean that the problem is completely solved. Because the
current intelligence software is voluntary, not all players will benefit from
the monitoring. Also, the program is effective because is tracks betting
patterns across time, and red-flags gamblers who begin to deviate from that
pattern… but what about the gamblers who already have a online casino gambling
addiction?
But for the first attempt at solving problem online casino gambling, this new
artificial intelligence system is proving effective. Once problem or at-risk
gamblers are detected, Svenska Spel has a variety of options to choose from. Not
only does Svenska Spel stop all marketing programs aimed at that gambler, but
has a variety of options to choose from to work toward acknowledging and solving
the addiction. Problem online casino gamblers also have the option to request
self-exclusion from all Svenska Spel gambling products and services.
