No Online Casinos and Poker in U.S.
The fact that the United States does not allow online casinos and internet poker
is certainly not surprising to anyone who has followed the industry for the past
year. But unfortunately many internet gambling companies are still recovering
from the loss of the U.S. market, and nearly a year later, some online casinos
companies are having a harder time than others finding a new market with as much
potential as the U.S. market. For SportingBet, the loss of the U.S. market meant
a huge loss of profits from not only sports betting, but the internet poker
industry as well.
The emerging European online casino gambling industry meant that many internet
gambling companies were able to find a niche in the European market as it
rapidly expands. Other companies seem to be a bit slower in finding a new market
for online casino, poker and sportsbetting – and the result is low quarter
revenues and a loss of a significant player database.
The fact is, for SportingBet, the loss of the U.S. market necessitated the sale
of the online casino poker and betting companies successful site, Paradise
Poker.com. The transition into a new market has not been as easy for SportingBet
as it was for some other online casinos poker companies. Sportingbet recently
released its quarter results (which ended in October) and the quarter report
indicated that the company’s revenue is roughly have of the revenue from the
same time only a year previous. Only now does it seem that the company is really
focusing on really looking into the European market for new players – a focus
that will certainly increase company revenue when Sportingbet actually focuses
on acquiring new European sports bettors.
