Bluff Magazine Says Goodbye
Just last week the company that owns Bluff Magazine, Bluff Media, announced that
it had fired Chris Vaughan, the former Managing Editor of the magazine because
of a cheating scandal that broke in the news just weeks previously. Vaughan and
a cohort, Sorel Mizzi, were caught cheating at a Full Tilt online casinos poker
game. And as a result of that scandal, Bluff Media was forced to fire Vaughan as
a way to maintain and continue credibility.
The cheating scandal has rocked the online casinos industry, especially since a
previous cheating scandal broke a few months ago that made international news
because of the extent and scope of the cheat. Absolute Poker announced months
ago that the company had contacted the Kahnawake Gaming Commission about a large
scale cheat – the largest in the history of the online casinos and internet
gambling industry. Between that cheating scandal and now the one at Full Tilt,
many players in the internet gambling industry are increasingly wondering about
the safety of internet gambling. At that same time though, these are isolated
incidences and the land-based gambling industry has its fair share of gambling
and cheating scandals.
As for Bluff Media, the company released a statement with the news that Vaughan
had been terminated. Bluff Media announced that “In light of Chris' involvement,
recently admitted facts and the feedback obtained from industry professionals,
it became apparent that the credibility required to perform the job functions of
Managing Editor of Bluff Magazine at our company's level of standards have
become severely diminished.” Bluff Magazine is highly respected in the online
casino industry, and the company “regret[s] having to make this decision.” The
announcement continued, “we believe that it is the best alternative for all
parties involved, including Chris, Bluff Media and the poker playing community
at large. We wish Chris the best of luck."
