Playtech Corners Parts of Asia
The Asian market is the target market for dozens of online casino companies
looking for areas with the potential for significant growth in the internet
gambling industry. And though some areas in Asia still have restrictions on the
types of games available at the online casinos, and some still have strict laws
against online gambling – other areas are more open to the growing internet
gambling market. Playtech recently announced that it landed a significant
exclusive Asian account.
The announcement came in the form of a disclosure from PLaytech, an online
casinos games developer, to the London Stock Exchange. And though some terms of
the deal have been announced, the Asian company has requested that its name stay
out of the media. Playtech has secured a three-year contract with the unnamed
Asian online casino gambling group to provide player-to-player games and to
create Playtech versions of some of the more popular Asian games. A couple of
the Asian games that the has plans to develop include Cho-Da-Di, Do-Di-Zhu, and
then Playtech has announced that it will supply the unannounced Asian online
gambling group with more traditional poker games as well.
Playtech anticipates that the online casino software development deal will
translate into “$4-5 million in revenue in 2008," comments the Playtech CEO Mor
Weizer. And already Playtech is gaining status in the UK online casinos industry
as news of the Asian contract spreads. The company’s share price on the London
AIM has increased since the announcement ( and in anticipation of the
announcement).
