U.S. Player Wins Big
The United States may have a current ban on all transactions between financial
institutions and online casinos and poker sites, but that hasn’t even begun to
stop Bodog Entertainment S.A. from accessing the U.S. internet poker market.
Bodog has successfully operated internet poker for the past year despite the
U.S.’s online casino gambling ban known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act. And though some U.S. players have abandoned the online poker
tables because of the restrictions, it hasn’t slowed down traffic at the site to
prevent Bodog from reaching its billionth hand.
Bodog is a top online casino poker site in the U.S. market, but it was not the
first internet poker site to announce reaching the billionth hand milestone.
PokerStars.com announced administering its billionth hand earlier this year. But
the fact that the Bodog was not the first online casinos poker site to reach the
billion hand mark didn’t diminish the site’s celebration.
Bodog rewarded the nine online casinos poker players who were playing at the
table that dealt the billionth hand. In anticipation of the billionth hand,
Bodog had a plan in place to reward all of the online gamblers at the table with
a share of the $10,000 prize – naturally in addition to any monies won in the
course of the game.
For some, the fact that Bodog has reached its billionth hand is an indication
that the U.S. online casinos ban is simply ineffective – not a surprising
conclusion for any who follow the U.S. internet gambling debacle.
