New Moves in the Skill Gaming Industry
Skill gaming is quickly becoming more in more popular,
especially in countries that do not allow online casino gambling. The skill
gaming sector of the larger internet gaming industry (which includes online
bingo, skill games, and online casinos) is specifically growing faster than the
some other sectors because of increasingly high demand and relatively few Web
sites currently cater to this market. As the skill gaming industry expands
though, many involved are beginning to feel the pressures and changes, and to
monitor those changes two of the more prominent skill gaming companies have
joined forces to create a trade association specifically targeted at kill gaming
related companies.
The online casino gambling industry has trade associations and also annual
conferences among other events. These established events and associations have
proven effective at increasing communication between companies within the online
casino industry, so it only follows that as the skill gaming industry expands
separately from the internet gambling, it too should have effective means to
interact.
The new trade association is titled the Interactive Skill Games Association (ISGA),
and is the brain child of FUN Technologies and King.com. FUN is one of the top
skill game providers in the industry, and partnered with King.com, the launch of
ISGA shows that the companies are socially responsible and are taking action to
ensure the longevity of the industry. ISGA’s new President was recently
appointed because of his previous experience in the land-based and online
casinos industry in the U.S., specifically, Harlan W. Goodson served as the
Director of the California Division of Gambling.
The co-CEO and co-Founder at King.com only had positive remarks about the new
trade association that was long-due. He commented on the fact that like the
burst online casinos saw just a few years previously, “skill gaming is one of
the most rapidly growing sectors of online entertainment and there is a pressing
need to ensure the integrity of [King.com’s] games and to promote understanding
of the services [King.com] offers.”
The CEO at Fun Technologies also elaborated on the new trade association
clarifying what the two companies hope that ISGA will accomplish. Lorne Abony
comments, “Through the creation of this new association, it is our goal to
develop a code of conduct and best practices for the skill games industry, to
which we hope member operators will voluntarily adhere without the need for
government intervention.”
