Realtime Gaming Sells
Rumors in the world of online casinos suggest that Realtime Gaming (RTG) has
recently sold both its source code and its programming team to a current
licensee. The exact internet gambling company that bought RTG is unknown, but it
does seem that there is a factual basis to these rumors.
Realtime Gaming’s Web site is no longer fully functioning; now when guests enter
the Web site, they are taking to a single landing page. This landing page has
the information for “Hastings International BV,” an authorized distributor of
RTG.
Many are speculating that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is
responsible for causing RTG to sell. Based on the UIGEA, online casinos and
internet gambling companies are banned from operation in the United States. A
source close to RTG owners says that the previous owners of RTG felt that with
the recent “War on Internet Gambling, ” and though “RTG doesn’t own or operate
[online casinos] directly”, it wasn’t worth the risk of future legal troubles.
Hastings International B.V. is based out of Curacao and therefore the ideal
company to take over the business as they will not be subject to US laws. And if
the UIGEA continues to put pressure on the online casino gambling industry
players could see a period of time when all of their favorite Web sites and
companies are bought by foreign based companies.
