Assurance from a Poker Site
The popular 24hPoker.com site was recently subject to inquiries from the Swedish
authorities concerning the exact nature of the company’s operations that are
located in Sweden. The Swedish Gaming Board has sent out multiple inquiries
recently as a way to ensure that the online casinos that are operating
affiliated locations on Swedish soil are in fact following Swedish gambling
regulations. 24hPoker released a public statement in response to the Swedish
questionnaires to assure both the online casino poker industry, and any
concerned players that may have caught wind of the inquiry, that the company
does not anticipate and problems and is in fact in compliance with Swedish
gambling regulations.
24hPoker operates out of three main locations that, all together, enable the
online casino poker company a broad range of access and player support. Each of
the three locations have very separate functions and the Swedish government’s
questionnaire was merely seeking clarification on the exact nature of the
Swedish location. 24hPoker’s released a statement that specified what led to the
confusion and planned actions to remedy the confusion. Pia Rosin, a spokesperson
for 24hPoker comments on the company’s structure. She notes, “We believe that
the actual problem is that our Maltese gaming operation and the Swedish supplier
operation have the same name. We have decided to change the name of our Swedish
operations to better reflect our business in Sweden to avoid further confusion.”
24hPoker is licensed out of Malta and operates the online casino gambling end of
the company out of the Malta location, according to the statement, “all the
actual gaming operations are in Malta.” The Sweden location, while having the
same name, actually has very different operations. The Swedish end of 24hPoker
handles online casino software development, accounting functions, company
management, and other corporate functions.
Rosin concluded the statement with an assertion of the online casino poker
company’s compliance with all local and state laws in which it operates. She
notes, “We are expecting either [the Gaming Board] will give us the all clear,
or maybe they will come back with more questions. However, we are confident that
all our operations are compliant with both Swedish, Maltese and European law.
